Corvette Diner

It would not be Corvette Diner without this cool 1958 Corvette parked inside the doorway.

Dinner at the Corvette Diner!!! Yes...another 50's Diner!!! We love the 50's what can I say!! (This was last night...too tired to post last night) We have been going to this one for around 14 years now. It, for sure, is one of our favorites. My daughter and her hubby joined us for some "Good Times"! While we were waiting on our food to arrive a Magician sat at our table and did his very "Tricky" card tricks for us. After dinner we went into the arcade where my son-in-law stomped me in air hockey. We had a blast!! Good times...good times!!!!

A Day At The Beach

SEASHORE

The waves come crashing in.
Salty air, and sea shells.
Barefoot on the sand.

SEASHORE.

How MIGHTY you are.
 How GRAND.

Sand dollars, clam shells for my collection.
Warm sun on my face, relaxing within.

SEASHORE.

How MIGHTY you are.
How GRAND.

Scoop up a handful of sand.
God's thoughts more numerous than,
All the sand across the earth's span.

SEASHORE.

How MIGHTY you are.
 How GRAND.

You stretch across the earth,
To a far-away land.

SEASHORE.

How MIGHTY you are.
How GRAND!

poem by Nancy Craig ©
Psalm 139: 17-18

A group of sandpipers running back and forth
in the waves looking for food.

Sandpipers.

Beautiful scene.

Gorgeous.

How MIGHTY you are. How GRAND!

The Hotel Del Coronado.
This is the Hotel they used
in the movie "Some Like It Hot" with
Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemon!
I Love that movie!!!!!!

Today the weather was absolutely perfect. Blue skies and in the high 70's.  We drove over the Coronado Bridge onto the Island of Coronado. We ate breakfast at a little 50's Coffee Shop, stopped for sunscreen and a bucket and headed for the beach. I love the beach!!! I beach combed, walked on the seashore and then I took some great photos. We had another fun in the sun day!!!

Jumping Ships

Good view of the bow.

Gorgeous day!!!

A 20 foot life-like statue of
"Kissing War Goodbye"
It is a roaming statue and is leaving
San Diego in a couple of weeks and
is moving on to San Francisco.

The ship's rigging. I loved looking up at them.

USS Midway and view of San Diego's
skyline.

HMS Surprise.

HMS Surprise.

Star of India

Star of India.

Inside the submarine. I looked through
this periscope.

The Dolphin Submarine.

USS Midway

We had a wonderful time today. The sun was out and it felt good to be out in it. We drove down to the Port of San Diego to check out some of the ships docked there. We went aboard The Star of India, the Berkeley, Medea, Californian, HMS Surprise, the Pilot and a submarine called the Dolphin. When Larry was a youngster his family lived in Berkeley and he would watch the Berkeley sailing from Berkeley to San Francisco from his living room window. The HMS Surprise is the ship they used in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. It was a gorgeous ship. We also went down into the submarine. Actually, I went down two times I liked it so much! The first time I went through quickly because I wasn't sure about being down inside a submarine. I said to myself, "I am brave, I am brave." It was a piece of cake! When I got to the surface I grabbed the camera from Larry and went back down. We then walked the waterfront to climb aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Midway.  It was huge. It was active from 1945-1992 and carried a crew of 4,500. They used 10 tons of food daily and it took 225 cooks to prepare their meals. They used 1,000 loaves of bread every day. Lot's of hungry sailors to feed!! We enjoyed seeing and hearing the history of all the ships. It was a fun in the sun day!!!!!!! Great fun jumping ships!!!

San Diego Sunrise

We woke up to this sunrise this morning. View
from our Hotel. Weather report in the 70's
today. Yes...we will be outside!!!!!!!

Richie's 50's Diner

We drove out to Murrieta to visit our dear friend. We took her out to lunch at a 50's diner she suggested, Richie's Diner. We all had cheeseburgers and malts!! We had a great waitress and we had a whole lot of fun!!

San Diego!!!!

Lots of masks on the walls.

Gold table and an assortment of
great salsas!

The walls were covered in masks and photos
of wrestler's.

The Gold booth we sat at.

One of the walls filled with photos
of wrestler's that have visited here.

Our flight to San Diego was a good one. When we landed we took the shuttle to pick up our car and then headed to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods to pick up a few groceries and drinks. We rested a bit and then my daughter and her hubby came and picked us up to take us to a taco shop. In fact it was the same taco shop that the show "Man Versus Food" ate at. It is called the Lucia Libra Taco Shop. The walls are  decorated with lots of photos of Mexican wrestlers, a collection of masks and a Championship Belt. There is a Giant Gold Booth that sits in the corner that only VIP can sit in with reservations. My daughter had made the reservations and when we got there she had to tell them a "Secret" password to claim the booth. The food was amazing. It was fun being a VIP!!!!!
